Happy New Year, and welcome to the year of the dragon (I'm rather bitter that I was born just days before being able to be a dragon (I'm a rabbit), but I won't go into that now :P).
I cannot believe I have been a member of this site for 7 years o_O. When I first joined it was on a whim and suggestion from a friend. Since then, I have more or less been a ghost visitor, logging in every few months or so, and never bothering to take part in anything.
Now, though, as one of my resolutions for 2012, I want to be more active on this site. And the first step is getting an avatar and profile picture sorted :)

Hey you, who has read the final novel of Saiunkoku Monogatari, and who is in Japan (and therefore the best person I know to ask about the status of the manga) .... what is happening with the manga? Are they still coming out with more volumes? How many are out in Japan already? (hehe ... I hope you don't mind me using you as my walking reference for Saiunkoku Monogatari...

For the manga, the latest volume out is volume 9, and I think they are still coming out. I don't know when the next release date is however.
And as for the novels, after the main series ended, a new hardback book based on the stories after Ryuuki's ascend to the throne came out - this book dealt mainly with the history and after story of Yuushun, Anju, Ouki, Ryuuki, and Shuurei. And about a month ago, a fanbook also came out, including a drama CD, which was the last ever drama CD for Saiunkoku. Very sad
